New Feature: Ask an Expert!
Have you or a loved one just been diagnosed with a form of arthritis? Do you have a question about a new medication or a "natural" remedy you read about on the internet? E-mail your question to us here at the Arthritis Association of Louisiana. We will put your question to a panel of experts and get back to you with an answer!
2008 Camp J.A.M. Set to "JAM in the Tall Timbers," June 27-29
Here at the Arthritis Association, we're hard at work planning for this year's seventh annual Camp J.A.M. (Juvenile Arthritis & Me),
which will be held June 27, 28 and 29.
One of our most popular programs, this weekend retreat for families dealing with the challenge of
juvenile arthritis will be held this year at the beautiful Tall Timbers
Baptist Conference Center in Woodworth, La. In fact, our theme this year is "JAMmin' in the Tall Timbers!"
Coping
with the challenges of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis can take up a lot of a family's time. The AAOLA has designed a special
weekend getaway where the whole family — children, teens, and parents — can spend time together in a relaxed,
casual atmosphere.
Camp J.A.M. is specially geared toward families that are affected by juvenile arthritis but allows
families to attend who have been affected by some form of arthritis.
Some of the activities will include:
- Swimming
- Arcade room
- Games
- Arts & crafts
- Educational meetings
- And much more!
This year's two-night getaway includes all meals from Friday's dinner to Sunday's breakfast. Please call the office at 225-761-8230 (toll-free 1-866-390-8736) or e-mail Karen
Kennedy, executive director, for more information on Camp J.A.M. and/or to get on our mailing list. Printed brochures will
be available soon.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, Camp J.A.M. is free to families except for a small $35 fee to reserve your space. Feel free to check out the Tall Timbers website and download our Frequently Asked Questions page, too!
